Push Play, a young pop rock band with a lot of promise recently made their way through the Queen City earlier this month. Some compare them to Disney’s cash cow the Jonas Brothers simply because they are all around the same age bracket.  Nick Deturris, their bassist, had something to say about that, “we are not a boy band, we are a rock band”.

The nineteen year olds, CJ Baran, Steve Scarola, Nick Deturris, and Derek Rise do have a lot to offer the college crowd. “We can relate with them a lot,” said Deturris, “there is still going to be heart break and hanging out with friends.”

Though they are making their way to the big time they still keep it down to earth and still manage to pull some pranks on one another. Earlier in their tour they had to fly out to a venue, to help kill some time and keep them entertained they pulled a prank on their lead guitarist Steve Scarola. They bought and hide two five ounce bottles of feminine product in his guitar case. When he went through security of course he was asked to stop and let TSA go through his stuff. When they pulled out the bottles Steve look horrified, he had no idea how they had gotten in there. Lucky for the boys TSA took the joke well enough.

Their latest single Midnight Romeo off their newly released album Found has been coasting comfortably on Billboard’s Top 100 and can be heard on their website pushplaysite.com. Their music video has a guest appearance by Emily Osment, better known as Lily from the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana. While she doesn’t sing and just sits there looking pretty, Push Play did guest perform in one of her music videos All the Way Up.

Their tour continues through next month and they are coming back through the North Carolina area again on Dec. 11 at Hooligans in Jacksonville, NC. If at all possible make time to go see this pop rock band. Their catchy sound and upbeat music is sure to delight.
