Marlene Hall, UNC Charlotte's Director of Police and Public Safety has resigned.
Though Director Hall resigned on June 11, the effective date of her resignation is July 7. She has been reassigned to other duties, reporting to Henry James, associate vice chancellor of risk management, safety, and security.
According Henry James, associate vice chancellor of risk management, safety, and security, Hall resigned due to a personal matter, and could not comment further on the issue.
Major Jeff Baker, who joined the department in Nov. 2009, will serve as interm director while the University searches for a permanent replacement. Major Baker served in the CMPD for 29 years.
In Nov. 2006, eight months after joining the department, controversy surrounded Director Hall, when it was discovered that she had not completed all of the necessary training to serve as director. More on the 2006 controversy can be found on NinerOnline.com at http://bit.ly/cQkqzb
However, NinerOnline.com was informed that Director Hall subsequently completed all necessary requirements to serve as director.
