For fall 2010, Dining Services will replace Coyote Jacks in Prospector with SMASHERS, a new burger joint at UNC Charlotte. They will provide “fresh ground beef or turkey, hand-formed and smooshed down on the grill, sizzling and sumptuous,” according to the Auxiliary Services News blog.
The burgers will be customizable by students, ranging from one to five patties per burger. Students will have the option to include “grilled or raw onions, pickles, tomato, jalapenos, salsa, lettuce, sauteed mushrooms, and spring mix greens.”
SMASHERS will also bring breakfast options to Prospector, offering breakfast sandwiches and omelets. “At a recent tasting, many of the comments said that although nothing is as good as Five Guys, the Smashers burger was darn close!” according to Lou Ann Lamb with Auxiliary Services.
Over the summer, Prospector has been closed to facilitate renovations including a larger Chik-fil-a. Chik-fil-a is temporarily located at Main Street Market in the Cone Center.
