The Niners, fresh off a 3-1 victory over UNC Wilmington in the Courtyard Marriot Classic, will face the Eagles of Winthrop in their first game of the tournament on Friday night.  he match against Winthrop will be the Niners’ first regular season home game of the 2008 season and opens a five-game home stand for Charlotte.

Charlotte and Winthrop will kick off at 7:30 p.m. after the conclusion of the tournament’s first game, which features Davidson and UAB and starts at 5 p.m. All-time, the Niners are 8-3-3 against the Eagles, as Charlotte has won the last three meetings between the two teams, with the last contest in Sept. of 2004.
