My friends,
On behalf of the Student Government Association, I would like to welcome everyone back from a well deserved Thanksgiving break. I hope everyone was able to get a little rest and relaxation in preparation for the sprint to end of the semester and Christmas Break.
In serving as your Secretary for Internal Affairs, I have a wide range of responsibilities. I run the Student Government Association Elections, serve on campus-wide committees to voice student opinions and concerns, and perform any other duties the President of Student Body deems necessary or requests.
As Chair of the Elections and Publicity Staff, I would like to share with you the opportunity to become involved with the working of Student Government. This week there will be a special ballot to poll students on their opinion of some changes to the Constitution of the Student Body. These changes require the student vote, your vote, in order to be put into effect.
The main purposes behind most of these changes are to clarify wording, fix grammatical errors, and bring the Constitution in line with updated practices and policies. I would encourage each and every student to go to the link on the SGA website, http://sga.uncc.edu/, to check out the proposed changes and cast their vote for or against them. The opportunity to vote will be available from Tuesday December 1 at 8:00am until Thursday December 3 at 5:00pm.
I would also like to let you know about some immediate opportunities I have to voice some of your questions and concerns. I am serving as the student representative on the Campus Accessibility Advisory Committee, which is working to revamp the ADA Transition Plan on campus. If anyone has any concerns about accessibility on our campus please let me know. We are also considering the possibility of some student focus groups in order to gain some student input on these matters, if we decide to do this I will be providing more information in the near future. In addition to this committee, I have been appointed to the Faculty Council and will be serving on the Summer Session Committee. Again if anyone has any ideas, questions, or concerns please let me know, either through an email or through my mailbox in the SGOC Complex on the second floor of the Student Union.
I would like to wish each and every one of you the very best of luck in completing the semester and on your exams. I would also like to ask that everyone stay safe during the upcoming Christmas Break.
