Imagine … a new default browser that has everything you could ever ask for. Google Chrome is the newest and most up to date waste of Web space.
The Google Chrome Web site features a tab with a list of all the intriguing browser features. “One box for everything” is the main feature of the newest downloadable browser.
The box that shall include all of a Web browser’s greatest desires, features Crash control, Incognito Mode, and Dynamic tabs. With labels like that, the program has to be good, right?
Some of the other features Google Chrome offers, are visual sampling of your most visited sites, using Web applications without opening your browser, a quick and easy way to arrange multiple tabs, loss prevention of applications, warnings for suspected phishing, and a simple way to bookmark pages.
Google Chrome will also transfer bookmarks and passwords from your previous browser to make the transition a breeze.
The Google Chrome Web site even includes a short video presentation of each feature, so the interested viewer can learn more about the program through watching and listening rather than reading.
Although none of the videos last more than 26 seconds, they provide a brief tutorial on how to operate a few of the tabs. These seem to be very informative if you can stand the drone of the woman in the background.
The program was launched on September 2, 2008 and was said to be available in more than 100 countries. “This is just the beginning – Google Chrome is far from done,” the creative minds of Google explained, in the Official Google Blog.
One of the improvements expected to occur in the future is the availability of the browser on Mac and Linux systems. It is difficult to successfully create a program that is usable by everyone, when many people, including myself, are switching over to Mac operating systems. The Google Chrome Web site offers to send updates on the creation of the program to Mac users via e-mail, so eventually they will be able to use the program.
You can meet the creators of Google Chrome on a video posted on The Official Google Channel, which is available on YouTube. The video was posted on August 26, 2008, only 6 days before the release of the browser.
A few of the comments by users of the browser include “Simply amazing. Extremely fast and open source! Easy to use and really smooth. Good job Google!” and simply, “Chrome is amazing.”
To learn more about Google Chrome, you may also read a book the Google Chrome Team has available on the Web site. The book is filled with comics illustrating how to use the program and all of its features. The humorous pictures almost make it an interesting approach to explaining the positive aspects of the browser.
The Google Chrome browser is available to download free of cost from the Google Chrome Web site. So if you try it and are not satisfied, all you have to do is delete it and return to using your previous browser.
